Jonathan books shows. Big ones. Small ones. The kind that make a moment feel like it lasts forever. He’s worked with Newport Jazz Fest, Big Ears, Hopscotch, THING, and more. His band, Mattson 2, has toured with Khruangbin, Kikagaku Moyo, and Toro Y Moi. Played Telluride Jazz Fest, Blue Note Tokyo, The Fillmore, Desert Daze—the kind of stages where music feels alive.
He’s put out 12 albums, collaborated with Toro Y Moi, Ray Barbee, and Tommy Guerrero, racked up 80 million+ streams, and hit #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts—twice.
Beyond the stage, Jonathan connects artists with audiences in new ways. He’s closed partnerships for digital events with Andrew Bird, Bombino, Vieux Farka Touré, La Luz, Fat Tony, and others.
He lives in San Diego with his wife, two daughters, and their dog, Peanut. Studied jazz and the art of sound at UCSD (Cum Laude) and UCI (MFA in Integrated Composition, Improvisation & Technology).
Always listening. Always creating.
